Privacy Policy

This explains what personal information Weways collects, why we need it, who can see it and what you can do about it.

Draft. This text is waiting for legal review and for our company details. Highlighted gaps are filled in before launch.

1. Who is responsible

[Company legal name], of [Registered address], runs Weways and decides how your personal data is used (the "data fiduciary" under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023). Write to us at [Contact email].

2. What we collect

  • Your account: name, mobile number, email address (if you give one), city, profile photo and business name (if you add them), and the roles you choose. Your password is handled by our sign-in provider. We never see it.
  • What you post: property listings with photos and prices, requirements you post as a seeker, job posts, company pages, reviews, and the messages you write in enquiries.
  • What you do: listings you save, visits you schedule, jobs you save or apply for, and notifications we send you.
  • For job seekers: headline, skills, years of experience, about text and, if you upload one, your résumé.
  • How the site is used: when you view or save a listing we record it, with a one-way scrambled code made from your network address and browser, so we can count views without counting the same person again and again. We also use cookie-free traffic statistics (Vercel Analytics) and keep technical logs of requests to keep the service running and safe.
  • Location: when you search near you, your device may share where you are. We use it to find nearby results and keep a chosen area in your browser for about a day; we do not keep a history of where you have been. Addresses and coordinates of listings and jobs are sent to map services (OpenStreetMap-based) to find places and travel times.

3. Why we use it

  • to create your account, sign you in and keep it secure;
  • to show listings and jobs, and to let people contact each other;
  • to send you one-time codes and notifications about your enquiries, visits and applications;
  • to review what is posted, prevent fraud and spam, and follow the law;
  • to count views and understand how the service is used so we can improve it.

We do not sell your personal data and we do not use it for advertising.

4. Who can see what

  • Everyone: your public listings, jobs, company page, reviews (with your name), and your name and photo on your public profile. A requirement you post shows your first name and the initial of your last name, never your phone number.
  • A person you enquire with: your name, phone number, email address and message. We share them because you asked to be contacted.
  • A person you schedule a visit with: your name and photo.
  • An employer you apply to: your name, photo, city, headline, skills, experience, about text and résumé. A résumé is stored privately and the employer receives a link that stops working after about an hour.
  • Our administrators: they can see what is needed to review posts, handle complaints and keep the service safe. Their access is limited to those jobs.

5. Who we share data with

We use other companies to run Weways. They handle your data only to provide their service to us:

  • Supabase: our database, sign-in and file storage;
  • cloud hosting for our servers and website;
  • an SMS provider (2Factor) to send one-time codes;
  • WhatsApp (Meta), if switched on, to send listing managers a short alert that someone has enquired, including the enquirer's name;
  • OpenStreetMap-based services for maps and places;
  • Vercel, for the website and its cookie-free statistics.

Your data is stored in [Country or region where data is stored]. Some of these providers may process data in other countries. We also share data when the law or a court requires it, or to protect people from harm or fraud.

6. What is stored in your browser

To keep you signed in, your browser stores a sign-in token and a small copy of your account (your id, roles and the screen you are working in). It also remembers a few preferences, and an area you pick for job search for about a day. We do not use advertising cookies.

7. How long we keep it

We keep your data while your account is open and for [retention period] after you close it, unless the law requires us to keep something longer. Posts you deleted may stay in our records for a short time before they are erased. Listings and reviews you made public may have been copied by others, which we cannot undo.

8. Your rights

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act you can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal data we hold about you and how we use it;
  • correct or complete data that is wrong;
  • erase your data and close your account;
  • stop using your data where you gave consent, by withdrawing it (some features will then stop working);
  • deal with a complaint, and name someone to exercise these rights for you if you cannot.

Write to [Contact email] from the email address or phone number on your account so we know it is you. If you are not satisfied, contact our grievance officer, [Grievance officer name], at [Grievance officer email]. If we cannot resolve it, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

9. How we protect it

Traffic to Weways is encrypted. Access to data is limited by role, so a person can reach only their own account and what is public. Résumés are kept in private storage. No online service is completely secure, so please use a strong password and tell us at once if you think your account was used by someone else.

10. Children

Weways is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you think a child has an account, write to us and we will remove it.

11. Changes to this policy

If we change how we use personal data, we will update this page and, where the law or the change requires, ask for your consent again. The date below shows when this version took effect.
